I am a senior enterprise architect and business architect, with 27 years’ experience in the ICT industry working for Australian and New Zealand Government agencies.

My skills and interests lie in designing enterprise architectures that will help the business to transform its strategy into investment plans and a portfolio of change projects, through using a wide variety of enterprise architecture tools and techniques.

With good control and balance, this holistic approach transforms the architecture of the organisation – i.e. its functions, business capabilities, value streams, organisational structure and assets (buildings, ICT systems and information) – from the current state to a new target state in which the business goals can be achieved. This is an active design approach, producing deliverables that are actionable by management and delivery teams, rather than passive compliance checking of project architectures against standards.

I believe that a pragmatic and iterative approach works most effectively in developing an organisation’s enterprise architecture and business solutions, rather than one tied to a formal methodology. I access a high level of creativity in my work. Feedback I have received indicates that my colleagues regard very highly my ability to engage with business stakeholders and to create diagrammatic and written architecture deliverables that communicate concepts and ideas clearly.
